This is a fantastic opportunity for opera aficionados to ask questions of the Moby-Dick's singers, conductors and directors. On Sunday, January 29, from 1pm to 4pm, the Fairbanks Ranch Country Club in Rancho Santa Fe is hosting "Hearts for Healing," an art event to benefit the Family Health Centers of San Diego. The auction features student works created under the direction of artist Gerrit Greve. The theme for the event is "uplifting and heartfelt" art. An RSVP for the event is required by January 20, 2012. January 15-20, 2012 is San Diego Restaurant Week. It's a great opportunity to support local restaurants and have an exquisite meal at the same time. During this twice-annual event, 180 of San Diego's best restaurants offer prix fixe menus, many of them for lunch as well as dinner. A two-course, prix fixe lunch at participating restaurants is either $10, $15 or $20, while a three-course dinner costs either $20, $30 or $40. The beautiful Hotel del Coronado has transformed their Windsor Lawn into an ice rink so that you can enjoy an experience unique to Southern California: ice skating amidst palm trees overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Not only is this a great opportunity to enjoy some seasonal fun with your family, but some of the proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego. Every year, San Diego celebrates the holiday season with the Port of San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade. This Southern California tradition is billed as "America's largest balloon parade." Enjoy a procession of marching bands, floats, drill teams and balloons as they make their way through the beautiful bayside streets of downtown San Diego.
